Twelfth Shearing for Kids day coming up

The 12th annual Shearing for Kids with Cancer Shearing Day will be held on Friday 31 July, at Croydon Shearing Shed, Wanalta,. The popular event brings together people and businesses within the sheep industry who  donate their time, skills, products and services for a day of shearing to raise funds for children with cancer. 

The team will work together for the morning, shearing 500 merino ewes with eighteen shearers rotating on ten stands. They will be supported by 25 shed hands who will keep the shed running smoothly, picking up the fleeces and working wonders with the broom. 

Adding to the fundraising effort, Kade, Tom and Whyatt have volunteered to have their heads shaved on the day, with supporters encouraged to donate to the cause.

Families are encouraged to come along and enjoy the day, with a jumping castle available for children. A $10 wristband includes unlimited access to the jumping castle and a sausage for lunch.

Shearing is expected to finish around midday, after which visitors can purchase meat and gravy rolls, sausages and hamburgers from the barbecue.

The fundraising will continue from 1pm with a live auction featuring a wide range of donated items, including firewood, lime, crushed rock, gypsum, wine, shearing supplies, a car detailing voucher, loaded eskies and more. A silent auction will also run throughout the day, offering additional prizes.

A raffle will be drawn at the conclusion of the auction, with tickets available for five dollars each. Please let Katrina know if you wish to buy some.
