Rushworth’s 3RW on its way to Stanhope
It’s just over a year since Rushworth’s own radio station, 3RW FM 87.6 commenced full time operation. In that year there have been many challenges. Brad suffered a major car accident in February which saw him out of action for five months. It has only been in the past couple of Months he has been able to get back into work. T.J. along with Rhonnie helped keep the ship floating. The station has started upgrading some of its studio equipment ready for the expansion.
3RW commenced operation on 1 September 2025, and in that year, the station fine-tuned programming, technical equipment and operation. During the past year, they have also received many requests from residents in nearby towns asking if the service could be extended so they could pick up the signal. Brad said “ part of our aim was to increase our coverage to get the Rushworth message further afield along with helping other smaller towns to access local information and music that brings back memories”.
As part of the expansion, they are ready to offer the service to the Stanhope community. It means that the 3RW signal would be received in Stanhope and local Stanhope information would be included in programming. Although 3RW streams on line, many people don’t have smart phones, computers or even internet, which makes traditional radio so important.
The station has spent many hours completing all the paperwork and have self-funded a licence for Stanhope. After discussions with the Stanhope Business Development Committee, they were able to provide some space for the transmitter and antennae so the station could be heard in Stanhope.
Brad said that without the fantastic support from the Stanhope Business Development Committee, bringing 3RW to Stanhope may not have become a reality.
3RW’s signal will soon be heard on the FM band at 88.0 on your dial in Stanhope.
Brad said “we look forward to being heard in Stanhope, playing those great songs from the past that bring back so many memories, along with local information”.
