Easter Wood Auction raises $15,000+ for Kids with Cancer
Katrina Ogden
What a fantastic day was had by everyone who attended the Rushworth Easter Festival.
It started off a bit fresh but ended up being a lovely day. As organisers of the wood auction event (Katrina and Billy Ogden), we would like to thank a lot of people for helping us cut the wood, stack into trailers and deliver the wood.
We would also like to thank the people who donated trailer loads of wood as well. Without the help of these wonderful people, we wouldn’t have been able to have this event.
Gavin and Fran O’Sullivan, Bill and Val Barlow, Field and Game committee, Bruce Wootton, Mark, Harry and Brian Barlow, Ebony and Louis Behsmann, Nick Harrop, Marty Borger, Sam and Jack Perry, Hugh Fraser, Mark Cusack, Ike and Jake Jones, Darcy Brown, Jack McArdle, Mal Connally, Johnny O’Dwyer, William, Heath and Thomas Ogden, Kaylene and Peter Raglus, John Raglus, Rob Colliver, Garrick and Claire Campbell, Gunyah Farms, Joe Atherton, Rushworth Machinery Shed, Cousin Al and Gus, Neil and Loretta Robbins, Kennedy Family and Jark Farms.
We also would like to thank our auctioneer for the day Nigel Starick. He did a great job and we very much appreciate it.
We had a total of 23 loads of wood as well as bags of wheat, barley and oats and little squares of Lucerne, shaftal and sub hay. The top trailer load of wood went for an incredible amount of $2000. The lucky winner of the 6x4 trailer load of wood was won by Buffy Beck. The total that was raised for the Shearing for Kids with Cancer was $15,680!
We would again like to thank everyone who helped before, during, and after the auction. It was truly very much appreciated. Look forward to seeing everyone on 31 July for our twelfth Shearing for Kids with Cancer Shearing Day. More details to come, so stayed tuned.
