New Not-for-Profit established to drive community projects in Rushworth

A new community-focused not-for-profit organisation (Waranga Regional Development Foundation Inc) has been established to support and deliver projects that will benefit the Rushworth community and surrounding district.
Formed in April 2026, the organisation has been created with a clear vision of identifying, managing and delivering initiatives that enhance the liveability, prosperity and long term future of the region. By bringing together local knowledge, skills and community passion, the organisation aims to create lasting benefits for current and future generations.
The inaugural Board consists of respected community members who bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to the district. Colin Moore has been appointed Chair, with Christine Borger serving as Vice Chair. Lyn Reade has taken on the role of Treasurer, Sharon Ebsworth has been appointed Secretary, and Jan Smith and Jenny Bassett complete the Board as Directors.
Chair Colin Moore said the establishment of the organisation marks an exciting new chapter for Rushworth and its surrounding communities.
“Waranga Regional Development Foundation Inc, has been created to provide a dedicated focus on projects that will make a real difference to our community. We want to work alongside local groups, volunteers and stakeholders to turn great ideas into reality and ensure our region continues to thrive,” Mr Moore said.
The organisation’s first major initiative is the Rushworth Project, an ambitious undertaking that will celebrate, preserve and promote the unique history, culture and identity of the district. The project will bring together local stories, historical records and community knowledge while exploring opportunities to showcase Rushworth’s rich heritage for residents and visitors alike.
The Board is looking forward to working collaboratively with community organisations, businesses, volunteers and funding partners as the project progresses.
The establishment of Waranga Regional Development Foundation Inc. reflects the strong community spirit that Rushworth is known for and providing an exciting platform for delivering projects that will have a positive and lasting impact across the region.
