It’s Christmas!

There is something about the Christmas season (whatever it means to you - religious festival, Santa gifts or welcome holiday time) that still manages to bring people together in a festive spirit to celebrate and be merry. This is most evident at each of our town carols nights when residents get together to ‘sing out loud and sing out strong’ all the old favourite traditional Christmas songs and to enjoy some musical entertainment and other fun activities.

The Rushworth Community Carols was a great night out for all the family, with the jumping castle and face painting being a great hit for the kids.

The event, originally started by Mary Beck, has been running for a number of years now. In the last five years it has grown with the involvement of local groups like the Kindergarten, St. Mary’s Primary and the Rushworth singers. This year we had all these groups involved and they did a splendid job.

There was also the Rushworth and District Brass Band and Life Church band from Mooroopna who accompanied and led the crowd in singing Carols.

The weather was just right for a freshly cooked sausage or hamburger with onion, (organised by Perry’s Butchery). So the food was great, the atmosphere was great and there was a sense of people enjoying themselves and being relaxed.

Organisers believe there were 170 plus people at the event and plan to further improve it for 2018. The event was strongly supported by the Rushworth & District Community Bank and Christian Life Rushworth. Organisers said that without the support from volunteers and sponsors the event wouldn’t be as good as it was.
