A Rushworth woman is in hospital in Melbourne after being airlifted with burns to her hands and upper body after a fire in the early hours of Sunday 17 September on the property in Old Place Road. The fire needed twenty firefighters from three crews to bring it under control.
The inside of the house was gutted and fire caused considerable damage to the structure of the building, although there are stone walls still standing.
It took the fire fighters about forty minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The house was originally a weekender until Bill and Carmel Stubbs, a former well known entity in the area, built on a stone room, the walls of which have survived the heat.
Rushworth friends wish Kate the very best for her recovery and hope she will be back in town as soon as possible.
