Waranga Memorial Hospital demolition underway
It’s time to say a final farewell to the former Waranga Memorial Hospital in Rushworth.
GV Health has notified that demolition of the 60 year old building is being conducted in line with appropriate standards and will be completed by the end of this month.
The hospital in Coyle Street has been vacant since 2019 when GV Health moved to the newly built hospital extension of the Waranga Aged Care Hostel in High Street.
Following demolition, the site will be offered to other Victorian Government Departments for alternate use and may be sold should no further use be identified.
GV Health is ensuring that trees on the site are being protected during the demolition, and that some bricks from the old hospital building will be salvaged to create a memorial wall at Waranga Health in High Street, Rushworth.
