Goulburn Valley Health has announced the builder selected for the redevelopment and co-location of Rushworth’s hospital and aged care hostel. Commercial Industrial Construction Group Pty Ltd (CICG) will commence construction of the the $10 million project later this month.

The redevelopment, funded by the Victorian State Government, will create one integrated healthcare facility offering a range of acute health, aged care and community health services in the centre of Rushworth.

CICG have recently worked on a number of projects in the health sector including the Moorabbin Hospital and its Simulation Centre, Greensborough Medical Centre and Melton Health and Community Services Hub.

GV Health Chair, Rebecca Woolstencroft said it is an exciting time at GV Health with a number of key redevelopment projects about to begin.

“The redevelopment of the Waranga Aged Care Hostel is a project all GV Health stakeholders are looking forward to, particularly those who live within the Rushworth community.

“The fact this company is exceptionally experienced in the health care sector gives us the confi dence that the project will be delivered on budget and in a timely manner and we know the fi nal product will service the needs of the community,” Ms Woolstencroft said.

GV Health Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Saunders said it is important that the local community be provided with an improved health care service.

“We are excited that the redevelopment of Waranga is very close to starting and that the completion of the build will give the community of Rushworth a health care facility that will service the needs of all.”

GV Health Manager Waranga Campus Jayne French said she is excited to have all the services on one site.

“It will be beneficial to the community as well as the staff to work alongside each other, which will only benefit the resident-patient journey.”

Peter Walsh has been appointed as the site manager. Mr Walsh has managed a number of regional health projects overs his 30 years in the construction industry.

Some of the key projects he has previously led include Swan Hill District Health Residential Aged Care Facility, La Trobe Rural Health, Rochester & Elmore District Health Services and Echuca Regional Health.

Construction will begin late September 2017 and is scheduled for completion in April 2019.
